Issued to Baxter Italia the certification according to DTS 021 - HOMECARE - Governance and delivery of the complete Home Parenteral Nutrition (NPD) service to support adult and pediatric patients, caregivers and health care workers, with the support of OPT Spa – a consulting company with consolidated experience in healthcare.
The certification is issued to BAXTER by the CSQA Certification Body and it also receives concurrently from ACS Italia, a publicly controlled certification body, certifications of the competencies of the employed nursing staff involved in this service.
This is the first example of a competence center for home parenteral nutrition and certified with two internationally recognized standards. Service certification is developed along the lines of ISO 17065 and competency certification performed in accordance with ISO 17024.
For Baxter: "Saving and sustaining lives. Baxter has been carrying out this mission for nearly 40 years through the home parenteral nutrition service implemented in partnership with the National Health Service," comments Baxter's Homecare Director Western Europe Sonia Bogliolo. "It is an honor for Baxter to have been the first to achieve certification, issued by CSQA and ACS Italy, of the entire pathway of the integrated care model dedicated to home parenteral nutrition patients. Our goal has always been to ensure quality, safety and accuracy in the governance of the home parenteral nutrition pathway." says Baxter quality and regulatory director Southern Europe Massimiliano Gaudino. Sonia Bogliolo continues, "Being pioneers and innovators is never easy and implies a serious and continuous commitment to finding insights to improve and enhance the quality of programs delivered. Every day we work to provide a complete home program, including all the necessary components, such as a nursing service specialized and certified in the management of therapy in adult and pediatric patients, the provision of all the devices necessary for the proper management of therapy, the parenteral nutrition bag, the necessary medications, home delivery and vacation service. All governed by an IT platform, Janua, which enables the true digitization of the patient's journey from hospital to home by connecting all stakeholders".
For OPT: "It is a source of great pride for OPT to have accompanied Baxter in the design and implementation of this virtuous path aimed at objectively enhancing the standards of Quality and competence offered to the patient in home parenteral nutrition- states Gaia Navarra Head of Quality and Certifications Area of OPT spa, a consulting company with consolidated experience in the definition of certifiable and accreditable Governance models in healthcare. "The two Certifications obtained testify to Baxter's care, attention and constant commitment to guaranteeing its stakeholders services that conform to the highest standards of Quality and competence, with a view to continuous improvement".
For CSQA: "We are proud to have taken part in such an innovative and sensitive certification process, comments Pietro Bonato, CEO and General Manager of CSQA. We are a publicly controlled body and with our certification and inspection services, we operate in 33 countries around the world having as our goal quality, protection of human health and compliance with rules and standards".
For ACS Italia: "This is an important moment, says Massimo Dutto, CEO of ACS Italia, as it concerns a sector that cares about fragility. Being able to certify the skills of already highly qualified operators, including on their competence on the Home Parenteral Nutrition service, for us is a certificate that is worth double. As ACS Italy, a publicly controlled certification body, we are dedicated to areas of certification that have a positive impact on human life and frailty".
